Schumer bill would shut down anti-weaponization fund

The Senate proposal would abolish the federal account in the Judiciary Committee and leave the larger debate over oversight in place.

A federal proposal in the Senate would erase the Anti-Weaponization Fund, a change that matters most for how Congress chooses to police federal power. The bill comes from New York Democrat Chuck Schumer.

Its official title says it is “A bill to abolish the Anti-Weaponization Fund, and for other purposes.”

A narrower target than a broad rewrite

The bill does not remake the surrounding law. It targets one account and leaves the larger fight over oversight, spending and federal authority in place.

For readers, the practical effect is simple: if enacted, one dedicated funding stream would be gone. What remains is the broader debate over whether Congress needs a separate fund for that job at all.
