Agents and athletes get clearer rules in Louisiana

In Louisiana, the athlete-agent statute got a technical scrub. The amendments delete stray commas and fix phrases around when an agent has been suspended, withdrawn or terminated, and when officials may revoke authority or collect a fee.

That is not a sweeping rewrite. It is the kind of cleanup that makes a licensing law easier to read, and that matters when the people using it are athletes, agents and the state officials who police the line between them.

The lines that changed

The edits are narrow, but they touch the words that carry the legal weight.

• Delete a comma after “athlete agent.”
• Add “has” before “withdrawn” and before “terminated.”
• Delete commas after “revoke” in two places.
• Delete a comma after “fee.”
