Denmark lines up $842 million in U.S. cruise missiles
For Denmark’s F-35 fleet, the proposed sale would add 200 long-range cruise missiles and the support needed to keep them ready. The federal notice is a required step, not a final agreement.
The Defense Department published a federal notice saying the Government of Denmark is the prospective purchaser in a proposed $842 million U.S. missile sale. The package is split between $724 million in major defense equipment and $118 million in other items or services.
Effective date: June 12, 2026
At the center are 200 Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles with Extended Range, or JASSM-ER, low-observable cruise missiles built for long-range precision strikes. The notice says the Royal Danish Air Force would use them to strengthen its F-35 aircraft capabilities.
What comes with the missiles
The missiles are only part of the bill. The package also includes test and support equipment, containers, spare parts, consumables, repair and return support, weapon system support, precise positioning Global Positioning System, software delivery and support, publications and technical documentation, site surveys, transportation support, and U.S. government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services.
That mix is why arms-sale notices matter beyond the headline number. They show not just what a foreign military may buy, but how much of the deal is the weapon itself and how much is the training, maintenance and back-end support needed to keep it usable.
Why the notice matters
This is a section 36(b) arms sales notification under the Arms Export Control Act. It was published to meet a separate federal reporting requirement, and it carries transmittal number 26-73.
The notice is dated June 12, 2026. It does not mean the sale is finished, but it does put the proposed package, and Denmark’s interest in long-range strike hardware, into the public record.
