That keeps the change narrow. Drivers could request the addition, but the state would still control the design and the point at which it gets rolled into license production.
An optional detail, not a new requirement
For drivers who want it, the practical effect is simple: one more personal detail on a state ID they already use. For everyone else, nothing changes unless they choose to ask for the blood type to be added.
The proposal does not require the information and does not change the license’s basic job as proof of driving privilege. It just gives applicants another field they can choose to include.
