Judges across Louisiana would get a 2.7% raise

Louisiana judges would get a 2.7% salary increase on July 1, 2027. The change reaches the Louisiana Supreme Court, courts of appeal and district courts, along with the state-paid salaries of city court and parish court judges.

That means the raise would not stop at the top of the courthouse hierarchy. It would run through the full set of judges whose pay the state sets or helps cover.

Across the bench

For people who depend on the courts, the practical effect is indirect but real: the state would be spending more to keep judicial pay higher across the bench. The amendment covers judges on the Louisiana Supreme Court, courts of appeal and district courts, along with the state-paid salaries of city court and parish court judges.

The budget side

The fiscal note attached to the bill puts the general-fund cost at $6,690,757. That is the price tag Louisiana would absorb if the increase takes effect.
