The plan would add six more liquefaction blocks at the terminal and widen the industrial footprint of a project that is already under construction.
The request reaches beyond the shoreline site. Venture Global CP Express is also seeking approval for new compression and related facilities on the CP Express Pipeline, which runs from Jasper County in east Texas to the terminal on the east side of the Calcasieu Ship Channel. For people along that corridor, the proposal means more gas infrastructure tied to the same export chain.
Six more liquefaction blocks
Liquefaction is the step that chills natural gas into a liquid so it can be loaded for export. Adding six blocks would increase what CP2 LNG can process and ship overseas if regulators sign off.
That is the real-world shape of the filing: more equipment, more power needs and more industrial activity around the terminal, not just a paper change in the project description.
The Texas side of the build
The pipeline request is part of the same larger expansion. Venture Global wants new compression on CP Express, the kind of infrastructure that helps push gas over distance to feed the terminal.
The companies filed the application on May 26, 2026, and the Federal Register notice published June 12 also sets the intervention deadline for outside parties. For Gulf Coast communities and east Texas towns along the route, the filing is a reminder that LNG exports depend on a long chain of wells, pipes, compressors and terminal hardware.
