goflash is a tool for local newsrooms. It follows what public institutions publish, such as school board agendas, city council packets, meeting recordings and public datasets, so reporters can cite the original. This page is for the people who run those sites. If our reader shows up in your logs, here is what it is and how to reach us.
How to recognize us
| User agent | goflash-sources/1.0 (+https://goflash.ai/sources; sources@goflash.ai) |
|---|---|
| Fixed address | 34.105.70.209 |
| Contact | sources@goflash.ai |
Every request comes from that one address, and it does not change. To let our reader through a firewall or a bot check, allow 34.105.70.209. The contact address is also sent as the From header on every request.
What we read
Public pages only: meeting listings, agendas, packets and attachments, minutes, recordings, and datasets an office publishes for anyone to use. goflash never signs in, never gets around a login or a security check, and never reads anything that is not already public.
How often
New items as they are posted, a few seconds apart, and a one-time read of past meetings when a newsroom adds a source. Each site gets its own pace. We follow the crawl delay in your robots.txt and back off whenever a site refuses a request.
Set a rate, or ask us to stop
If you would rather we read at a particular rate, or at particular hours, email sources@goflash.ai and we will set that for your site. To block us, add a robots.txt rule for goflash-sources; we honor it. And if anything we do ever causes a problem, one email and we stop.
